Three Lochs Medical is the name for the strategic alliance between Strachur Medical Practice and Furnace and Inveraray Medical Practice starting on the 1st of August 2024

Furnace

Furnace is one of two split sites in the Furnace and Inveraray Medical Practice.

Furnace and Inveraray Medical Practice is one of the two practices in the Three Lochs Medical strategic alliance.

The Furnace surgery building serves around 300 patients.

We think local access to services is a central part of remote and rural medical practice.

As a remote and rural team, we are very keen to keep open a health care facility in Furnace and to provide direct GP and practice nursing services in Furnace.

We'd also like to see other services provided in the building, such as dentistry (although, this is difficult just now given the problems in dental services across the UK).

We're looking to work with patients to develop innovative solutions to these challenges.  This is something the Strachur team have a lot of experience and success in doing.

We've met with the Furnace Community Council to hear their views on how to make best use of the facilities in Furnace, and NHS Highland have showed us around the inside of the building.
